The Wye Valley as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Your Walks

DAY ONE
From Goodrich Village, walk uphill to the delightful nature reserve of Coppet Hill, with views across the River Wye to the Black Mountains, before descending to walk along the bank of the Wye. We pause at Lower Lydbrook for our picnic lunch, before resuming the riverside path of the Wye Valley Walk going through Welsh Bicknor to Goodrich.
Distance 8 miles flat but with a short climb at the start of the walk.

DAY TWO
The Wye Valley walk at times diverts from the river, and today’s walk is upstream from the famous Wye Gorge, where the Forest of Dean tumbles to meet the Wye. Our walk follows the Wye Valley Walk, through lanes onto Leys hill, offering tantalising glimpses of the Welsh Mountains, our return through Bishops Wood follows a route rich in woodland wildflowers in season.
Subject to opening times, we visit Goodrich Castle in the afternoon.

DAY THREE
Our walk today will take us over Huntsham Bridge along the river to
Symonds Yat East, where we will take the ancient hand pulled ferry, in operation for hundreds of years to Symonds Yat West. The Yat Rock is a well-known nesting site for Peregrine Falcons; the RSPB maintains a watching site during the summer months, we may be lucky to see them before returning to Goodrich.

Walk Herefordshire guides are fully experienced, have First Aid Qualifications, and are covered for Public Liability Insurance.
