Benefit from using a Direct Access Barister : Public Access Barrister, Corsham, Wiltshire
If you need help with a legal matter you can now go directly to a barrister without the need to instruct a solicitor as well.
To be allowed to take instructions direct the barrister has to be registered for Direct Public Access with the Bar Council.
There can be some distinct advantages using a Public Access Barrister, which starts with an increased choice of lawyer and also can offer cost savings.
The reasons for cost savings are twofold. If you want or need to use a barrister for your legal matter e.g. a court hearing, you can use just one lawyer i.e. the barrister, rather than two.
Also, contrary to many peoples expectations a barrister can be less expensive to hire than a solicitor. This is because a barrister typically has much lower overheads than a solicitor and as such can charge out at a lower rate to the client.
You will also benefit from knowing exactly how much the barrister will charge for the legal work he or she is doing for you. It is a requirement that any work must be detailed with the costs to be charged, in writing, before the client can instruct the barrister. This allows an opportunity to compare prices and potentially get a feel for the barrister before you commit.
