Alloy Wheel Refurbishment & Repair Newcastle : We Fix Alloys, Benton

Alloy Wheels are made of a material that can be damaged very easily but also often is easily repaired.

Manufacturers of cars and motor bikes use alloy wheels because they’re better looking than the steel versions. Because aluminium alloy doesn’t rust like steel, but it does oxidise, and it can be made into a greater variety of shapes and finishes. As a result your finished vehicle looks nicer and will sell for a higher price!

The problem is that the alloys used for alloy wheels is also a lot softer than steel so they are more easily damaged, making them look unattractive and scruffy. As a result, when you try to sell your vehicle with damaged alloy wheels you’ll either get a much lower price than you expected to get or you’ll find it much harder to sell it. The damaged wheels will make a buyer think you’ve not looked after your vehicle properly and there may also be other damage that isn’t so visible, meaning you could easily lose the sale.

How much difference do damaged alloy wheels make to the price of the car?

Well, from my contacts in the motor trade the difference between a car with damaged alloys and the same car without damaged alloy wheel is typically £500 to £1000! Oh, and the one with damaged wheels will take longer to sell!

So damaged alloy wheels, apart from making your car or motor bike look scruffy can also hit you in the pocket. Even if you lease your vehicle, rather than owning it instead, you’ll be penalised at the end of the lease term. The first thing a vehicle inspector notices when they assess your vehicle at the end of a lease are the wheels. If they are damaged you’ll end up paying for them anyway, possibly to the full value of a replacement set of new wheels.

But it needn’t be like this. Most damaged alloy wheels can be repaired and refurbished at a fraction of the cost of new ones, typically around £60 per wheel. They’ll look just like new and you won’t be able to see where they we damaged.

www.wefixalloys.co.uk offer both a mobile alloy wheel refurbishment and repair service throughout the North East and a central support workshop that also covers the North East but wherever you are in the UK we can arrange collection of your wheels, their repair and refurbishment and shipping back to you for fitting.
